I offer individual and family psychotherapy for adults as well as other non-traditional services (see below). Our work can be short-term or longer-term depending on your situation. The process is collaborative: the decisions about the process and our direction emerges out of our conversation. I hold sessions in-person , online and by telephone. (I am currently only accepting clients online. )
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of GA and have a Master's in Psychology with a clinical concentration, and a Doctorate in Psychology with a concentration on Consciousness and Society from University of West Georgia. I am also a Certified Imago Relationship Therapist, a long time student and teacher of Focusing and a clinical hypnotherapist.
My therapeutic style is informed by depth approaches to psychotherapy: person-centered, experiential and psychodynamic theory- and it includes the experiential method of Focusing . I am also knowledgeable about mindfulness and newer cognitive - behavioral approaches.
As an Imago Relationship Therapist I use a thoroughly relational approach to support couples in understanding and dialoguing through their conflicts and stuck spots. Imago Therapy aids couples in moving through power struggles and strengthening connection by facilitating awareness and fuller articulation of each person's needs and desires, providing the space for increased safety, enjoyment and intimacy. My approach is also informed by Emotional Focused Therapy for couples.
I have been working in the field for over thirteen years in various clinical settings, as well as private practice . In addition to relationship and general life concerns, I work with individuals and families in moving through depression, anxiety, mood disorders, trauma resolution, addiction and other disturbances. I am also a certified hypnotherapist and find hypnotherapy alone or in conjunction with ongoing work to be highly effective .
Please ask as many questions as you'd like. I would be happy to support you in making a good choice for your situation.

In addition to more traditional sessions, I offer two different services, Dialogue Facilitation and Guided Focusing sessions for personal clarity and decision making.
Dialogue Facilitation : At times we all need some support in having an important conversation or solving a seemingly intractable problem with people important to us. This may be a partner, a sibling, a parent or even a coworker. We can have facilitated dialogue meetings, specifically geared to areas in your life where communication has become particularly painful, where getting the support of a third party can shift things. In these meetings the focus is on facilitating conditions for each person to be heard and understood and developing action steps.
Focusing : Focusing is a powerful way of supporting decision making, deepening relationships, being able to take action, getting past stuck places in life. It encourages and guides people in listening to their bodily sensed meaning and wisdom that often gets passed over as insignificant or confusing. Often these places hold the key to stopping recurring patterns, and making better decisions.
This process was developed out of research that looked at what actually led people change in psychotherapy. It is a form of listening deeply to one's own sense of life issues. The name refers to the clarity that comes as something fuzzy becomes clear like a blurry image coming into sharper focus.
Sometimes having some guided Focusing sessions may be what a person needs in order to get the clarity they wish around a decision or a situation. If you would like to get more information about Focusing feel free to give me a call or check out www.focusing.org.
